Meet Our Planned Giving Officers

The Catholic Foundation Planned Giving Officers, Scott Yates and Chaz Zurcher

When you’re ready to turn Catholic generosity into lasting legacy, our Planned Giving Officers are here to guide you. Chaz Zurcher and Scott Yates bring both expertise and compassion to every conversation. Most importantly, they help donors translate their faith and values into personalized giving strategies. Whether you’re considering a one-time gift, exploring non-cash giving options, or planning a charitable estate gift, they’ll guide you through the process.

Chaz Zurcher

Chaz Zurcher

Chaz focuses on educating donors about how to give more wisely. Many people don’t realize that they can donate non-cash assets—such as real estate, stocks, or mutual funds—that can often provide greater tax advantages and amplify their impact.

“What sets us apart is that we are an independent Catholic foundation,” Chaz explains. “We work solely for the donor to accomplish their wishes, not the wishes of the Foundation. Our goal is to make giving simple, impactful, and free of unnecessary costs.”

If you prefer, your gift can also be held and grown in a donor advised fund or donor designated fund, giving you the flexibility to support ministries on your timeline. Chaz also helps donors create Charitable Wealth Transfer Plans for after life—ensuring your faith and generosity continue to support the Church and the causes you care about.

Scott Yates, Planned Giving Officer

Scott Yates

For Scott, planned giving often starts with a conversation at the kitchen table. His approachable style helps donors see clearly how a planned gift can provide immediate tax benefits while also creating a lasting Catholic legacy. Scott’s role is to show options you may not have even known were possible:

  • How a planned gift can reduce your tax burden today
  • How leaving a legacy gift can bless both your charities and your children tomorrow
  • How creative strategies can make generosity easier than you ever imagined

“The best meetings are when you can sit down with someone, explain their options, and you see the light go on,” Scott says. “It’s a game changer. If you can conceive it, we can help you achieve it.”
