Not only is he passionate about supporting the Church and its organizations, but John provides valuable insight into the Foundation’s work in the community.

Q: What inspired you to join the Catholic Foundation Board, and how has your background in business, finance, and law influenced your contributions?

A: I’ve always been deeply involved in Catholic initiatives and organizations within the Diocese of Lincoln. Helping donors, parishes, and Catholic organizations fulfill their charitable intentions through the Catholic Foundation is something I feel strongly about. My background as a business owner and fiduciary, where I oversaw millions in assets, has prepared me well to help highlight the Foundation’s work. I also serve on the Cedars Home for Children Foundation with similar responsibilities, which further honed my skills in managing and directing charitable efforts.

Q: As leaders within the Foundation, what do you believe are the most critical qualities required to effectively serve as ambassadors in your local communities?

A: The key to effective leadership within the Foundation is understanding the goals of the donors and providing services that align with those goals. It’s all about ensuring that we meet their needs while maintaining complete privacy and confidentiality. Trust is vital, and as a board member, our role as ambassadors is to build and sustain that trust through transparent, compassionate, and professional service.

Q: Can you share some of the most rewarding experiences you’ve had while working with the Foundation and connecting with donors?

A: As both a board member and a donor, one of my most rewarding experiences has been creating a charitable fund to serve the Church. Being able to directly impact the work of the Church and seeing the results of these efforts has been incredibly fulfilling.

Q: What are some key challenges you’ve encountered in your roles, and how have you and the board worked to overcome them?

A: One of the biggest challenges has been the Foundation’s position as a completely independent entity. With over 500 donors, we’ve had to ensure that we manage their funds with the utmost responsibility and transparency. Our mission is to fulfill the charitable intentions of our donors. One of the biggest hurdles has been helping donors understand the fiduciary nature of the Foundation and the importance of confidentiality in executing their charitable wishes. We’ve worked hard to build a culture of trust and open communication to address these concerns.

Q: Looking ahead, what are your hopes and aspirations for the future of the Catholic Foundation, and how do you see the board’s role evolving to meet new challenges and opportunities?

A: My vision for the future of the Catholic Foundation is to continue expanding our consultative approach, helping donors achieve their charitable goals in more strategic ways. We have a wide array of tools at our disposal, and by listening to our donors, we can guide them in choosing the right investment strategy that aligns with their values. This will not only grow their impact but also help strengthen the Catholic Church’s role in the community. The board’s role will continue to evolve as we focus on these opportunities and meet new challenges with flexibility and dedication to our mission.
