Loving Our Neighbor

What does it mean to love our neighbor? In Matthew 22:37-39 Jesus tells us the two greatest commandments are to “love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind” and “you shall love your neighbor as yourself,” (NASB). So, how exactly do we love our neighbor? Loving our neighbor goes beyond what you may think—to love our neighbor includes being a good steward of the blessings God has bestowed upon you. This looks different for each person but can include making gifts of assets, time, or other resources we may possess.

Giving through Cash Resources

Cash donations are a simple and tax efficient way to give charitably to a cause that means a lot to you. The Catholic Foundation can help you set up a Donor Advised Fund or an Endowment to support the parish, school, or charity of your choice. We can also help you donate to one of the many existing funds held at the Catholic Foundation.

Giving through Assets

Is your wealth tied up in assets such as land, stocks, livestock, or grain? The Catholic Foundation can help you transform these assets into charitable giving, endowments, donor advised funds, or charitable trusts while you’re living or planning for your estate.

Giving through Time

If you can’t give through cash or assets right now, volunteering your time and talent is another great way to benefit your Church and community. The Catholic Foundation will help connect you with local or even national organizations with missions that align with your passions and values.
